Watford vs. Leicester City

Vicarage Road

19/09/2009

3 p.m.

Preview: Watford vs Leicester

Leicester travel to Vicarage Road tomorrow in the hope of securing their first Championship away victory of the season. The Hornets currently lie just a place above City in the league table, after making an impressive start of their own to the campaign.

Watford have enjoyed a solid opening under the stewardship of former player Malky Mackay, and are currently unbeaten in their last five league matches.

Last time the two sides met at Vicarage Road it was Watford who grabbed victory on the day, Darius Henderson's solitary goal seperating the two sides. With Henderson since moving on to pastures new with Sheffield United, Watford will be looking to call upon the services of recent loan signing Heidar Helguson, now in his second spell with the club following his recent switch from QPR.

Vital Quotes:

Watford manager Malky Mackay: 'Leicester is a big club, with a lot of fans and a major backer, so they were able to go in and bring in players in the division below that normally teams couldn't get, real quality players.

That being the case then, they have come into the division and started well and they will not be seen as a team who people will tip to struggle.'

Watford Team News:

New loan signings Heidar Helguson and Craig Cathcart are available for selection following their recent moves from QPR and Manchester United respectively.

Jay DeMerit should be back in contention after missing the past two matches through injury.

Player to watch: Tom Cleverley

The Manchester United loanee spent time with Nigel Pearson's Foxes in last season's successful League One campaign, and quickly became a fans' favourite at the Walkers Stadium. The midfielder has already hit the net three times so far for the Hornets this season, most recently in Tuesday night's win against Plymouth.

Leicester City Team News:

Centre back Aleksander Tunchev is likely to start following injury to Wayne Brown in Tuesday night's draw against Peterborough. The Bulgarian has not started a game since January after suffering a cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of the year.

Player to watch: Richie Wellens

The midfielder has enjoyed an impressive start to the season for the Foxes, and will be looking to help the side continue their early momentum tomorrow afternoon. A classy midfielder with an eye for the killer ball, Wellens is a vital cog in the Leicester system.

Match Facts & Stats

- Watford have only won two of their last sixteen meetings with City.

- Leicester are still searching for their first away win of the season.

- City currently possess the Championship's third best defence, conceding just five goals thus far.

- However at the other end goal-scoring is a problem, with the team currently the lowest goal-scorers in the top ten of the Championship.

Match Prediction:

Both teams appear to be in reasonably good form so far, so I envisage a close tie. Watford 1-1 Leicester
