Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is set to make several changes to his first team when his side continue their Carling Cup campaign at Preston on Tuesday evening.
The second round tie pits Championship against Championship, with both sides recording impressive starts to their respective seasons. With eight points apiece, the match is set to be a close affair depending on the extent to which Pearson decides to tinker with his lineup.
Preston themselves are hoping to progress to the third round of the competition for the first time in five years, whereas Leicester are looking to bounce back from their second round defeat last season at Fulham. It was the first time in 14 years that the Foxes had not progressed to the third round, as Danny Murphy's cruel late winner condemned them to defeat.
Alan Irvine: 'I will look at the whole squad and decide what we do with these games in mind, we're still in the early stages of the season, the games are still proving to be very demanding for the players and we know we have a squad that is competitive and we can afford to make changes, we've done that for all the games so far. I feel we can make changes for this game, if we want, and still have a strong enough team to get a result. It won't be an experimental team, it will be a team full of first team players.'
Nigel Pearson: 'There will be changes, no doubt about that but how many and what they will be, we will have to see. We will have to look at the players and see how they are to see where we are at. We have one or two players who need a game. I believe we have good competition within the squad for places and I fully expect whatever side starts to be very competitive and as always we are going there to try to win the game.'

Preston have only the two confirmed injuries, with Barry Nicholson and Youl Mawene both sidelined for tomorrow's game.
Manager Alan Irvine is expected to make changes to his first team, but has pledged to field a strong side to face the Foxes.
The former-Leicester player joined the Foxes from Blackburn in 2000, before spending four years with City. Davidson left the club for North End as Leicester were relegated to the Championship, and has since never looked back.
The 33-year-old was involved in a notorious incident with Dennis Wise on a club pre-season tour, where Wise broke Davidson's jaw and nose as he acted as peacemaker in another dispute.
Your guess really is as good as mine.
Pearson is certainly set to make significant changes to his starting lineup, and could hand a debut to newly signed Yann Kermorgant up front.
With Steve Howard and Martyn Waghorn out through hamstring injuries, Pearson could call upon the Frenchman to partner either Matty Fryatt or Paul Gallagher in attack.
Aleksander Tunchev, Nicky Adams, Michael Morrison, Max Gradel and Andy King are all pushing for starts and could all feature.
The Wales Under-21 international has lost his place in the first team since the arrival of Richie Wellens, after an impressive season in League One last year.
King is likely to start the match, and has a point to prove to Pearson. A player with an eye for a pass, King also poses a potent goal threat and will be out to catch the eye of his onlooking manager.
- The two sides drew each other in the second round five years ago, when Richard Cresswell's extra time goal handed Preston a 3-2 victory.
- Whilst this is Preston's fifth successive home tie in the competition, Leicester have been drawn away eight times in the past ten draws.
- The Foxes are three goals short of hitting the 250 mark in the League Cup.
Somebody's unbeaten run has to end, and I have a strong feeling it might just be ours. We don't have the best of records against Preston, and with a weakened side, I'm prediciting a 1-0 defeat.
