Still silence from City on Newell

Nearly an hour after Mike Newell declared that he was staying with Luton Town and not joining Leicester City as manager there had not been a word from City.

Not from the club, not from the official website, not from anyone.

No announcement about whether Rob Kelly would now carry on or whether the club would continue working through their list of job applicants.

No comment on the question being asked by fans as to why two front-running applicants, Newell and Steve Cotterill, had decided they were not interested in the job.

Earlier this week there was no answer to a simple enquiry about whether Lee Morris was injured again or just not being selected to play.

If that straight question cannot solicit a simple answer one might understand the difficulties of the club getting their heads around their latest managerial disappointment.

But the fans want to know and if other clubs can respond quickly, why not ours?. Click Club Forums, click 100% football for fans chat. Posters can now win prizes for their contributions.

Is Lee Morris injured again? He can't have that long left on his contract. As for a new manager I say leave Kelly in charge now until the end of the season at least. We are currently winning games and a new manager will only unsettle the team at this stage.

I wonder if they might make a statement tomorrow before the Brighton game as the chairman did last Saturday
