Sheehan signs until 2008

Alan Sheehan, another of Leicester City's most talented young players has committed himself to the club long term.

The nineteen-year-old reserves skipper has signed a two-year deal according to the club's official website today.

Sheehan, last season's Academy Player of the Year said on Saturday how happy he was at the club and that he was 'going nowhere' and his signature is further reward for City's visionary commitment to youth.

A Republic of Ireland international at U17,U19 and U21 levels, Sheehan has made three starts for the first team this season and is considered to have a bright future.

His emergence, together with Richard Stearman and James Wesolowski this season represents a tangible return on Academy investment which was further emphasised by the recent signing of another 19-year-old, striker Matty Fryatt.

Sheehan, who joined City from Belvedere FC, is now committed to City until the end of the 2007/8 season and manager Rob Kelly said: 'He is very much part of our plans for the future'.
