Foxes to sign Belgium Left Back?

Foxes to sign Belgium Left Back?

Voetbal International reports that Philippe Leonard is discussing a possible move the Walkers Stadium

Formerly of Feyenoord, Leonard is currently out of a contract, allowing him to move even though the transfer window has closed.

This may appeal to Leicester who are short of left sided players, with Clive Clarke recovering from his recent heart problems.

So what do we know about Philippe Leonard?

At 33 years old he may be entering the last few years of his career, however he has 26 caps to his name featuring in Belgium's Euro 2000 squad on home soil.

His past clubs include AS Monaco, Standard Liege and most recently Feyenoord who released him over the summer, he has never played in England although was approached by Blackburn Rovers in 2003 but rejected the move.

With manager Gary Megson short of options outside the window, and recently admitting our weakness in defence which was for all to see at the weekend against Charlton, Leonard could be our best option.

His experience may also be useful for both Mattock and Sheehan, two young and promising left sided players.

What are your views? Old and past it or a shrewd move outside of the transfer window?
