They can't both be the winner but Icelander Gudjon Thordarson may just be nosing ahead of Steve Cotterill in the race to become Leicester City's new manager.
That may not be Leicester City's dearest wish. Cotterill's boss, the Chief Executive at Burnley Dave Edmundson only recently described Cotterill as 'the best manager outside the Premiership'.
But he has so far refused Leicester permission to speak to Cotterill whereas Thordarson has a clear path.
Notts County chairman Steve Thompson has said 'we want Gudjon to stay but we would not stand in his way.'
Thordarson, whose record is detailed elsewhere on this site, was linked to the Leicester City managership before Levein's appointment.
Cotterill, dramatically successful as manager of Cheltenham before gradually moving on to Burnley would meanwhile seem to have gone awol at Burnley.
Dave Edmundson says the club 'haven't heard from him for nine days' and that 'I hope he is trying to bring new players into the club'.
But, Cotterill was demonstrably upset by the sale of striker Ade Akinbiyi to Sheffield United and Edmundson admitted he is 'certainly not happy right now'.
The question remains, if Burnley stall over Cotterill and Thordarson can take up the reins without hindrance, how long can City afford to wait for any mists to clear?
