Morgan Relishing Chelsea Encounter

Morgan Relishing Chelsea Encounter

With a narrow one nil victory over Sheffield United at the weekend in the FA Cup, skipper Wes Morgan has spoken of relishing the upcoming quarter final clash with Chelsea given how the balls came out of the hat on Saturday evening.

With Jamie Vardy scoring the only goal of the game in the 66th minute to put us through to the next round of the competition this season, Morgan believed that despite the narrow nature of the victory over our Championship opponents, he felt it was fully deserved on the day.

Making his own return to the pitch following injury there were also personal positives for Morgan to take from the match as he featured for the first time since New Year's Day owing to his hamstring injury.

Speaking to as he met with the media post game, Morgan felt the margin of victory should've been greater given the chances we fashioned on the day, but ultimately cup ties are about getting through.

'I felt like we dominated the game and created some good chances throughout the game. We looked the most likely to scored goals and go onto win it so I think it`s a well-deserved victory and on to the next round.'

Morgan went on to say.

'We had some good chances in the first half, but we went in full of confidence knowing that the same type of performance will give us the rewards and we got it in the end. The scoreline was maybe a light result but on another day, we could have scored more goals.'

With Riyad Mahrez playing his part in the game, Jamie Vardy takes the headlines as he found the net for the fifth straight game and he came in for praise from Morgan.

'He`s on top form at the moment. He`s always threatening the opposition`s goal and getting in the right positions. He could have had a couple of goals in the first half but he kept going and got his goal eventually.'

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel also came in for praise following his save late on that stopped United drawing level.

'When you`re dominating the game, goalkeepers can`t switch off. They had the odd chance, especially towards the end of the second half. He had to stand up and be counted and it was a great save from him. It kept us in the game.'
