The Perfect Return For Barnes
Having returned earlier last week from his loan spell out at Barnsley, Harvey Barnes was delighted to make his first Leicester City start in the Fleetwood tie.
Travelling to Fleetwood Town for the FA Cup third round affair, Barnes was pretty pleased with is contribution in his full debut for the club but obviously there was disappointment that we now have to face a replay.
He made his substitute debut back in the Champions League last season.
Speaking to lcfc.com following the game, the youngster explained.
'It has been a positive week for me. Discovering that I had been recalled was good for me. It shows that the manager has good intentions and having the start today was another positive. I knew a few days before that I was being recalled. The manager contacted Barnsley and my agent to let them know and I found out I was starting in training on Friday. The manager had a chat with me then and told me I was starting and spoke to me about a few different things for the game.'
Having come off just before the hour mark, Barnes went on to admit it was an incredibly tough affair as Fleetwood gave it everything.
'It was a tough game. It is a tough place to come. They are a good side and a physical side. We knew they were going to play long balls and the pitch wasn`t the best to play passing football on, but the main thing is we didn`t lose and we have another chance at it. I know extra games aren`t always a good thing but for us to still be in the draw with the chance to progress, I think that was the main thing today.'
His spell at Barnsley saw him take in 20 starting appearances, with a further five showings from the bench. In that time he scored five goals.
