Instant Reactions - Fleetwood v Leicester (6/1/18)

Following today's FA Cup clash between Fleetwood Town and Leicester City, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Fleetwood Town hosted Leicester City at Highbury Stadium for a 12.45pm kick off on Saturday January 6, with both sides playing out a scoreless draw.

It ws Fleetwood Town's first match against a top flight team given their dramatic rise through the football period over the last few years and although the visitors had greater possession, they didn't register a shot on target and Fleetwood had the greater efforts.

The talking point from the day was the return to the club of Jamie Vardy, but he missed out on the match day squad owing to a groin injury but was in the stands.

Teams:

Fleetwood:

Neal, Coyle, Bolger, Eastham (Pond 15), Bell, Glendon, Schwabl, Dempsey, Burns (McAleny 69), Cole, Hunter.

Substitutes:

Hiwula-Mayifuila, Jones, Cairns, Biggins, Sowerby.

Leicester:

Jakupovic, Amartey, Dragovic, Benalouane, Chilwell, Adrien Silva (Okazaki 57), King, James, Gray, Slimani (Iheanacho 80), Barnes (Albrighton 57).

Substitutes:

Hamer, Maguire, Ndidi, Choudhury.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Simon Hooper blew the final whistle, Fleetwood Town manager Uwe Rosler explained.

'Leicester are eighth in the Premier League, they're a strong team, but we thoroughly deserved the draw and I think we could have won it. Our young players - and we have a lot of them - showed a lot of ability today but also game management. We took them right to the wire and unfortunately we didn't win it. We are developing young players and every game against opposition like that, in a stadium like Leicester's, gives us massive experience and we will benefit from that.'

Leicester City manager Claude Puel in his comparative interview explained the reasons behind eight changes to his starting line up.

'We had lot of injuries. I pick a team to win the game after considering the fitness level of my players after four games in 10 days. We had a good team on the pitch but it was not enough. Congratulations to Fleetwood.'
