Thomas Joins From Coventry

After plenty of speculation, Coventry City youngster George Thomas has now completed his move to Leicester City.

The 20 year old has come in from Coventry for an undisclosed fee and being Leicester born, and living in Wigston, just under three miles from the training ground, he's hoping to make his mark quickly.

Last season for Coventry he scored nine goals, including their winner in the EFL Trophy final.

Speaking to lcfc.com with his move confirmed, Thomas explained.

'I`m buzzing, I`m delighted to get it over the line finally and I`m looking forward to the season coming and seeing what I can do. I`ve seen a few of the boys in the changing room. It`s all good at the minute. The facilities are unbelievable and I just can`t wait to get started. It`s my hometown, I only live 10-15 minutes away in Wigston. It`s always good to play for your hometown team so hopefully I can push on from here.'

Having made his debut for Coventry aged just 16, Thomas will bring a wealth of experience to our Development Squad despite his tender age.

'I`ve played 50 odd games at professional level so maybe I have got that head start over other 20-year-olds in the country. Hopefully I can use that experience to get into the first team here.'

He's also a Welsh youth international and scored twice at the Toulon Tournament earlier this summer out in France.

'It`s always an honour to play for your country. I`m thankful to them for giving me my chance, it`s always a good experience. It helps me too to be playing against the top players from all over the world. I didn`t see Harvey Barnes and Elliott Moore (England) out there but I know Elliott. I used to play against him at Oadby Owls and Ibstock when we were eight-years-old. Obviously I played against Harvey at MK Dons so it`ll be good to meet the lads and see what we do this year.'

Asked for his aims, they were simple.

'The aim is to play first team football and try and help the Club. That`s the aim, to try and hit the ground running.'
