Derby Make James Bid?
It was being reported yesterday that Derby County had made a firm offer for Leicester City midfielder Matty James.
With James missing a chunk of time owing to a serious injury, he got himself back in training last season and took in a loan spell with Barnsley to build his fitness and form and he's been back with us in pre season training ahead of the new campaign, but it's now said that Derby have come in with a £4million offer for him.
The Daily Mail were reporting that Gary Rowett was very keen to add him to their midfield following the departure of Will Hughes to Watford earlier this summer.
With James only having one year left on his deal but the expectation that an extension would be offered soon, it appears Derby may have tried to steal a march given that window and tempt him to the iPro with a promise of far more regular game time given the competition we have, and his eagerness to get himself back on track following his knee ligament injury.
There's nothing firm in the story at this stage, but maybe one to watch.
