Vital View - Champions League, 11th-12th April '17
The Champions League season continued with the latest round of games played in midweek.
Juventus look well set for a semi-final place - unless Barcelona can pull off ANOTHER miracle?
Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are joining them. Well, after the first legs anyway.
Here's a round-up of the Champions League action from the games.
Tuesday 11th April 2017 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - QUARTER-FINALS
Juventus 3-0 Barcelona 19:45
Wednesday 12th April 2017 - CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - QUARTER-FINALS
Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Monaco 17:45
Atlético Madrid 1-0 Leicester City 19:45
Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid 19:45
Juventus took a giant step toward the Champions League semi-finals following a 3-0 win over Barcelona in Turin. It goes without saying Juve will be wary of Barcelona's stunning last-16 comeback against Paris Saint Germain - beaten 4-0 in the first leg Barca recorded an incredible 6-5 aggregate win, claiming a 5-1 victory at the Parc des Princes - but with no away goals to fall-back on the Bianconeri would need an epic fail to crash out against the Spanish giants at the Nou Camp next week.
Borussia Dortmund and Monaco played out a five goal thriller in Germany, a game delayed by 24 hours following a bomb attack on the German sides' team bus on Tuesday. Dortmund, two down early on, got back into the game before a late third from the French Ligue 1 leaders put them in control. The home side pulled another goal back but Monaco's away goals in this 3-2 victory put them in charge. However, the actions off the field - thankfully they weren't as bad as they could have been - do put things into perspective...
Atletico Madrid, beaten in two of the last three Champions League finals, hold a narrow 1-0 advantage over Leicester - there's little margin for error for the Foxes if they are to repeat the heroics of the last-16 win over Atletico's fellow Spaniards, Sevilla, given they couldn't managed an away goal at the Vicente Calderon.
10-man Bayern Munich surrendered a lead - and saw Arturo Vidal miss a penalty - in a 2-1 defeat against holders Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo's double, the competitions record goalscorer - his first Champions League goals in seven months, turned the game in Real's favour as the bid to retain the trophy has them slight favourites for the semi-finals.
