Good Winning Habit For Shakey

Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare has said he's delighted to see the team continue their winning mentality this pre season as we notched up another victory over Walsall last night.

With Wes Morgan and David Nugent giving us a two goal lead, before two strikes from Walsall either side of the half time break brought them back into it, Danny Drinkwater got us the narrow victory as he scored minutes from full time with a 25 yarder.

Speaking to lcfc.com following the game, Shakey said.

'I think with pre season, you can sometimes read too much into it. We wanted to get through it unscathed, which we have. We wanted to make sure there's competition for places, which we've got. We're trying to have a look of everybody and give them a fair crack of the whip. Everybody else looks at the result, and we want that too, but we also want a performance and individual performances. You can't read too much into results, although winning is a good habit.'

Shakespeare goes on to say that having now played three and won three, the most pleasing thing is that we have come through them with out any knocks or injuries, and that players have really stepped up their fitness with match time and as those levels increase, so do the levels of the performances on show.

With the majority getting a good 60 minutes under their belts, and subs getting an additional 30 minutes, Shakey also says that for the Preston friendly this weekend, that will be reversed in the main now and those that only got the short run out, will be given the hour so it all balances out.
