King - We're In Good Shape

King - We're In Good Shape

Academy graduate Andy King has said he couldn't wait to get going in pre season this summer, and he feels that all of the lads have returned in very good shape.

With the anticipation of our top flight returning building as we head towards August and the big kick off, King will become the first player to represent the club in all of the top three tiers of the football pyramid when he steps on to the pitch for the first time in 2014-15 and he explained to lcfc.com that with how the boys all came through the testing and measurement phrase of the return to pre season, they had all clearly been working well over the summer to give themselves a head start.

'It was good to get away with the boys, especially at the end of last season with all the celebrations. Those occasions don't come around too often, so to be able to celebrate together like we did was brilliant, and massively generous from the owners to support us in that way. It was a great couple of weeks for everyone. It's what everybody has been working for for so long, and now it's here, nobody really wants to let the chance slip by.'

Not wanting to let the chance slip, and being in the position to give us the best chance possible of not only surviving and securing Premier League football for 2015-16, but trying to survive with space to breath has kept everybody motivated over the summer to come back in good shape because they all want to impress the gaffer and hopefully get in that opening line up.

'The Sports Science staff are good and they won't push you too hard too soon, but you've got to come back fit. Pre seasons aren't like they used to be, you can't just chill out for the whole break, you have to do your own stuff and to be fair to the boys, they've completed the tests and everyone looks in good shape.'

King goes on to say that players know their own bodies well, and some of them over the summer had a few games and training sessions together to keep them where they needed to be for pre season return, and ultimately now it's about getting going again and throwing themselves in so we can be ready for the big kick off.
