James Relishing Premier League Debut

James Relishing Premier League Debut

Midfielder Matty James has said he can't wait to make his debut in the Premier League having helped Leicester to the title and promotion last campaign.

Our Young Player of the Year undoubtedly had his best season in football last season, both in terms of what he achieved with the lads, but also in his own form, consistency and contribution and now the 22 year old is hoping he can replicate his partnership with Danny Drinkwater and make an impact on the biggest stage possible in English domestic football.

Speaking to lcfc.com James said the summer break couldn't come to an end quick enough now as he feels well rested and he's just relishing the opportunity to get going again, and hopefully pick straight up from where he left off.

'I can't wait now. We're back in for testing on July 1 (today) before pre season starts the following week and I'm sure all the lads will be buzzing. It's been a long break this season, finishing on May 3, so I'm looking forward to getting back in and cracking on with the games as soon as possible.'

With us now knowing who we will face the anticipation for the campaign has definitely stepped up a notch, and with us facing Everton in our pre season plans before then opening the 2014-15 Premier League campaign against them also, James admits that whilst pre season will be a different game, and not as competitive obviously, there will still be things that Leicester can learn from the match, to bring on our experience of playing the top sides previously in domestic cup competitions.

'It's funny how that happened, but I wouldn't read too much into it. The game is early in pre season and will be completely different to the opening day of the season. We'll use it as an exercise to get ready for the new season, but it won't make a difference with it being Everton.'

Obviously, a former academy graduate of Manchester United, that was obviously a stand out fixture for James when the fixtures were released, but he had to admit he was somewhat 'taken aback' when he realised who quickly we would face some of the Top Six from last term, but that just adds to the excitement doesn't it.
