'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Leicester Land Villa's Albrighton

Manager Nigel Pearson has signed somebody else today, this time Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton.

Following on from the earlier signing of former England defender Matthew Upson, Leicester have added further Premier League experience to our ranks by signing 24 year old wide midfielder Albrighton.

He will join us officially on July 1st following the expiry of his contract at our fellow Midland club, and he has put pen to paper on a four year deal.

Speaking to lcfc.com after the deal was announced, Albrighton said.

'It was a great 16 years for me at Villa and I had some really wonderful times there that will stay with me forever. I'm coming away now with my head held high and really looking forward to this fresh challenge with Leicester, I can't wait to get going.'

Albrighton goes on to say that having spoken to our manager he knows he 'has big plans' for the club, and whilst survival next season is really our only aim and it's sensible to hold that, the player doesn't believe for a second that will be our only aim for long.

'I've watched some of Leicester's games over the last season and the lads have really played some great football. It's incredible what they have achieved, and they've deserved every bit of their success. Now I'm looking forward to getting involved. I'm a direct players who is very positive with the ball and who likes to cross. All strikers say they like crosses in the box, and they can guarantee that I'll be doing that for them.'

Albrighton came through Villa's youth ranks and made 101 appearances for them, with 86 of those coming in the Premier League. Last season he also had a four game loan with Wigan Athletic.
