Vice Chairman Confirms Pearson Talks

Vice Chairman Confirms Pearson Talks

Leicester City vice chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has confirmed today that contract negotiations with title winning manager Nigel Pearson are now underway.

Speaking to the BBC about the 50 year gaffer, he confirmed that negotiations were taking place and that he hoped they would reach a swift and positive conclusion so we could look forward to next season in the Premiership and a consolidation of our success this season.

'Contract negotiations are ongoing. There will be more information soon. I prefer him to stay, he did a good job and is a good manager.'

Adding that our owners had faith in Pearson to be the man to continue taking us forward, and that he himself 'always trusted and believed' that he would reach our goal of getting promoted to the Premiership, he admitted that news and rumours breaking as they did that the club were looking to change managers came as a shock to him.

'News came out that I would change the manager but I never thought or considered that. I never had any idea to change him. I believe that the team he tried to build have a chance to be strong and the long term plan was to make the team progress in everything, and we have shown we are ready for Premier League.'

Obviously Pearson isn't the only one out of contract in the summer, there are a number of players also in the same boat following on from Wes Morgan and Paul Konchesky signing their new deals back in January.

On that score our vice chairman said it was difficult to comment specifically because 'all the contracts are being negotiated' which will at least bring some cheer to fans, knowing that the work in now under way behind the scenes to keep our title winning team together so we can improve on it from where we stand.
