Vardy - It's In Our Hands

Vardy - It's In Our Hands

Following another superb win, and striker Jamie Vardy taking his own record to five goals in the last four games, he admits promotion is in our hands, and at least at the moment we are doing everything right.

A brace against Barnsley in last night's three nil victory was another step in the right direction for the club with our gap at the top of the table and speaking to lcfc.com following the game, Vardy admits the key to our performance was pace and effort.

'I think I took advantage of the centre half squaring up for the first one. I managed to knock it past him and just get onto it. The second was a great ball from Riyad Mahrez.'

Vardy admits that when he and David Nugent are in that form it is difficult for defenders to track them when they are prepared to drop, run wide and put the legwork in to create and open up spaces for people to exploit - especially when they have the understand they do - and he jokes that Martin Cranie said 'thanks' when he went off injured in the game 'because I think he was sick of tracking me.'

The striker goes on to say that in many ways Barnsley picking two big guys at centre half probably played in our favour because it did remove some pace for them, and obviously that was something he could certainly exploit and did so to good effect over the course of the 90 minutes.

Leicester are now 15 points clear of third placed Derby County and we still do have a game in hand but for Vardy he says the team are focusing purely on our next three points and nothing else at the moment. Our position can't become a distraction and we can't allow complacency to kick in because there are enough points left for us to blow it - we will only enjoy where we are when it's guaranteed.

'We've got it in our heads after the heartbreak of last year that it's all in our own hands and if we keep performing like we have been then we will get there.'
