'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Third Straight Three Nil Victory Delights Pearson

Manager Nigel Pearson has now got something else to praise, and the team have another unlikely run to continue following our three nil victory over Barnsley last night at Oakwell.

Not only have we continued to extend our unbeaten run, but we have now notched up three, three nil victories on the trot.

A brace from Jamie Vardy and another strike from Danny Drinkwater left the manager utterly delighted once again as he spoke to lcfc.com following the game.

'You go through the whole side and it's difficult to say that we had any weakness tonight. We were very good on an individual level. You can clearly see we have the quality of player at the club to make the progression to promotion, there's still a long way to go yet but we're showing that we have the calibre to do that.'

Of course having tasted a loss last season at Oakwell, the gaffer again points to the fact that it shows our improvement over the course of the last 12 months that we now find ourselves in this position because we are effectively the same side.

'I think we were exceptionally good, we played exceptional football at times. As well as that we managed to control possession so didn't allow them to hurt us on too many occasions.'

With Barnsley not hitting the target with a chance until late in the match, Pearson admits when they changed formation we took a while to adjust to it, but we coped with it and although we were never going to dominate like we did in the first 45 minutes, he still really couldn't fault our performance in the second half.

It would still be unrealistic to expect this run to continue as we simply have to hiccup at some point, it would be amazing if we didn't, but with every passing game we are giving ourselves even more breathing space for when that hiccup does come along, and at the end of the day in our position that's all you can do.

Make the eventual hiccup irrelevant, and we are doing that.
