'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mahrez Signing Confirmed

Following the earlier speculation that Riyad Mahrez would be Nigel Pearson's first signing of the January window, the club have now confirmed his arrival.

The former Le Harve winger has joined Leicester on an undisclosed fee and put pen to paper on the three and a half year deal.

The 22 year old is just awaiting Football League approval now and International Clearance but it's not expected there will be any problems on that score.

Speaking to lcfc.com as the announcement was made, our gaffer said of the player who has been handed the No 26 shirt for the remainder of this season.

'Riyad is a pleasing addition to a squad that already has a lot of quality and I'm delighted we've been able to secure his signature. Whenever we look to add to our squad, it has to be a player that will improve us while contemplating what we already have and Riyad certainly fits that description.'

So far this season, and prior to his move, the player made 20 appearances for his former club, scoring six goals and providing five assists for his colleagues, and Pearson is very confident that he will provide us with another good option in our attack.

As long as the various clearances come through in tinme, he could make his debut next weekend when we travel to Leeds United.
