It's Nice Looking Down
Well okay, the gaffer wasn't quite that blaze following our three nil victory over Millwall yesterday, but I'm going to be...it is nice looking down.
Three points clear in first place is a bloody delighted position to be in following the disappointment we all suffered last season, but now is the time to enjoy it and then come Monday morning we can all remember quite rightly that there are plenty of games left to go yet, plenty of points left both to be won and also lost, so enjoy it for what it is, and then basically do what Pearson has done following the game - downplay it, and look towards the games we have left where we will truly earn where we deserve to finish come the end of the season.
Speaking to lcfc.com following the win Pearson chose to focus more on the positives of the game and our performance rather than where the victory actually put us.
'I think we have been very good on the counter attack all season. I think when you've got pace in the side it always lends itself well to being effective, but of course you've got to defend well first.'
Pearson goes on to credit how we have approached the season by talking about each game being one in which we have managed to cause the opposition problems, even if some results haven't gone for us, he's still come out of games knowing it could've gone differently for us with a change of decision, a bit more luck or whatever, and he loves that because at the past we've had it thrown at us that we are one dimensional in attack, predictable and because of that easy to prepare against - whether or not those preparations work - but this season especially we have more than one string to our bow, and when plan A isn't working, we do have a plan B, a plan C and players who can try something unexpected to get a result.
He also believes that despite trimming the side somewhat before a couple of late additions, we now have better depth in the team and more options on the bench who can change our fortunes in a game, so especially looking forward to the remainder of the season he feels we are better prepared when it comes to dealing with injuries, suspensions and even loss of form from individual players.
