Pearson - Perfect Start To 2013-14

Pearson - Perfect Start To 2013-14

Leicester opened up our new campaign today with a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough, and Nigel Pearson was obviously delighted to start the league season with three points.

Speaking to lcfc.com following second half goals from Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy, Pearson admitted that he felt we had plenty of improvement to show following the first 45 minutes, but he was satisfied with how the team responded in the second half.

'I was really disappointed that we didn't set about the game in the way that I know we can. I always talk about how well the players apply themselves, but we looked a little bit like we were waiting for things to happen and that's something we can't do too often. In the second half we were a lot better. We played to Jamie Vardy's strengths in the second half and our pass selection was more positive. It's nice to get off to a winning start, but that's what it is, it's a start.'

Pearson also confirmed that Zak Whitbread did have concussion but he's okay now, and although he doesn't expect he'll be out for long, he'll have a better idea on Monday when the medical staff have had longer to check him out.
