Foxes Academy Given Category 1 Status

Leicester's Academy has today been awarded Category 1 status as part of the Elite Player Performance Plan.

Significant investment has already gone into the Academy to bring it up to spec with the staff working hard to ensure we met the conditions required to be placed in the top category group.

Leicester are now one of only six clubs outside of the Premiership to have Category 1 status.

Speaking to lcfc.com Academy Director Jon Rudkin said.

'This has been a project that oth the Academy and wider Club has been strategically focusing on over the past 15 months. It's a very exciting development for the Club and Academy. It will bring the players some excellent and tough challenges, which will be a significant benefit to them as part of their own development.'

Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said of the Category 1 status.

'The achievement is fantastic news for the Academy and a just reward for the remarkable efforts of Jon Rudkin and his dedicated team of staff. Congratulations to everyone involved.'
