Leicester had one of their highest attendances of the season against Colchester on Saturday. Over 22,000 fans turned up hoping to see a good game of football and hopefully a Leicester win.

The reason for the large attendance was partly down to fact that the club seemed to be giving tickets away to anybody who was silly enough to want to go to the game.

People who had never even been to a football match turned up at the Walkers, giving Leicester the perfect opportunity to gain some new fans. However, what the ‘new’ fans saw was an average performance from a Leicester team, who couldn’t create a meaningful threat on goal.

The amount of people that had free tickets was shown by the fact that with as much as 10 minutes to go, people were getting up and leaving. Although, most Leicester fans would say that they don’t want new fans that leave ten minutes before the end, with the game still tied. It just goes to show how bad the performance was, that even somebody who hasn’t paid for their ticket couldn’t stand to watch the last ten minutes of the game.

Although it was a good idea by the club to try and attract new fans and create a larger attendance for the game. It resulted in scaring off any potential fans, due to a very poor game and a lack of atmosphere. It also upset those season ticket holders who have had to pay for their tickets, only to see the club give out tickets to anybody
