Foxes Looking Forward To Hong Kong Sevens

Foxes Looking Forward To Hong Kong Sevens

Leicester City will again be represented at the Hong Kong International Soccer Sevens.

The tournament kicks off on May 24 and will see a squad of U21s and U18s head out to compete for the trophy against the likes of Manchester City, Aston Villa, Rangers, Newcastle and Sunderland.

In last years tournament Leicester helped themselves to a 3-2 extra time victory over Chelsea in the Shield Trophy, whilst Newcastle beat Aston Villa to take the overall Cup Final.

Fans who follow the Soccer Sevens will know that over the years it has been a platform for future league stars boasting names such as Gabby Agbonlahor, Glen Johnson, David Bentley and Shaun Maloney amongst many others who caught the eye and then became pretty much household names.

Academy Director Jon Rudkin who will be travelling with the players, told lcfc.com.

It's an extremely well organised seven a side tournament held in Hong Kong. Everybody is really excited and can't wait because this is one of the most outstanding tournaments available. It's something that we're delighted to be involved in and invited back to again.'

Compared to last seasons travelling party Rudkin admits this one will have a more youthful feel to it, as last time round the party was joined by Conrad logan, Martyn Waghorn and Liam Moore.
