Nigel Pearson believes that we deserved at least a point from the Cardiff game, but he knows we have to bounce back and stay in touch with the top pack regardless.
Speaking to lcfc.com following the defeat Pearson said.
'Ultimately when you create as many chances as we did, you would expect to score. For the most part of the season, we've done that well at home, but today we came up against a side that have done well defensively and hit us with a bit of a sucker punch. In the second half it fizzled out a bit. We created enough opportunities in the game to get something out of it and I think we deserved something. Unfortunately for us, at the moment we're not quite managing to turn those situations into wins, but we'll turn it around.'
With the Boxing Day trip to Hull now taking on an additional element following our loss to Cardiff - not least Pearson's former tie - he knows we just have to keep ourselves in and around the chasing pack so we are close enough to capitalise when our form does give us another run.
'What we must do is stay in contact with the teams in the automatic promotion places. We're halfway through the season, but we've got to make sure we're still nagging away at them and can hopefully finish the season very strongly. But we'll go there, we'll work very hard and we have good players ourselves. We've got to make sure we come out of it with something - hopefully a win.'
