Saturday`s game against West Brom will be the acid test that will give Leicester fans an idea on how Leicester will do this season. West Brom are one of the favourites to be promoted straight back to the Premiership an there will be no greater test in the game then that one facing the two Paddy`s.
Patrick Kisnorbo and Patrick McCarthy will have to put up with the aerial threat of John Hartson and the skill and quick thinking of Kevin Phillips. Hartson joined West Brom from Celtic in the summer and managed to score two on his debut to instantly become a hit with the West Brom fans. Kevin Phillips signed a week before the transfer window in a £700,000 move from Aston villa and is yet to start for his new team.
The potential that the Hartson/Phillips strike force has, could carry West Brom straight back into the Premiership. Phillips and Hartson have scored a combined 329 goals in their careers and both could easily still be playing in the top flight. However, Leicester fans will be hoping that the two Paddy`s can keep the West Brom strike force quiet.
The game against West Brom will be Leicester`s toughest test so far. West Brom have done well to keep the majority of their players from their time in the Premiership and this has left them with a very strong squad. If Leicester hold any hopes of taking some points back to the Walkers Stadium then Kisnorbo and McCarthy will have to be on top of their game. The Leicester defence has managed to keep clean sheets in consecutive Championship games and a similar performance would guarantee Leicester at least a point.
As well as putting in some solid defensive performances for Leicester, Kisnorbo has also been wiping away those memories of when he first arrived at the club by scoring some vital goals at the other end.
He started the ball rolling against a poor Ipswich side with a powerful header from a Danny Tiatto free kick. Kisnorbo then managed to get the only goal of the game against Southend, again from a bullet header, this time from a Danny Tiatto corner.
The match up between the two Leicester defenders and West Brom strikers should be a thrilling encounter and hopefully it will be the Leicester defenders that come out on top come the end of the game.
