Pearson Pleased With Progress So Far

Nigel Pearson has said he is pleased with how the squad is shaping up and he's pleased with the levels of fitness he's seen so far in pre season training.

Speaking to lcfc.com five weeks ahead of the season kick off, Pearson said he was pleased with the business the club had managed to do and he was impressed with how our newbies had fitted in on our opening day of training.

'I think it's always important to get some fresh faces in and we've had a number of players leaving us as well during the summer. The blend will be a bit different this year, but I'm pleased with the business we have done so far, the squad is shaping up nicely. It's good to be back and it's going to be a big season for us.'

Speaking more specifically about the three arriving players, he added.

'The strengths that these players have are that they are young, they have the desire and they want to play for us.'

Pearson says that those qualities are important because he wants players at the club who want to improve themselves and further their career whilst they are with us and he welcomes the added pressure that people are putting on the club over promotion, describing it as a big compliment.

'We're in a position where we need a good season, we aspire to get promotion this year. People have already put lots of added expectation on us from the outside, which is always a compliment, but we need to get out there and produce it for ourselves.'
