St Ledger On Historic Goal

St Ledger On Historic Goal

Sean St Ledger has talked about his consolation goal for the Republic of Ireland and he didn't realise it would put him into the Leicester history books.

Speaking firstly to lcfc.com the centre half said of becoming the first Leicester player in our 128 year history to score a goal at a major international tournament.

'I'd not thought about it too much, but I saw the stat flash up on Twitter from a few of the Leicester fans and it's nice to know they're supporting you when you're out here. When you think of some of the great players that have played for Leicester, it's a nice statistic to have next to your name.'

In another interview with the Leicester Mercury he added.

'It was great to get the goal, usually I stay back for freekicks but I went forward and scored.'

As those who watched the game will know, some naughty little tinker in the crowd had a very distinctive whistle.

St Ledger continues.

'I thought I was offside for a minute, there were a few whistles. I also actually stopped near the end thinking it was full time, it's something that needs to be looked at.'
