Pearson Hopeful On Wellens

Nigel Pearson has said that he is hopeful that Richie Wellens will be fit for pre season, if surgery isn't required on his knee.

After being injured against West Ham the initial prognosis has shown a partial tear to his cruciate ligament, but Pearson knows that further examinations have to take place to determine the full extent of the problem.

Speaking to lcfc.com the manager said.

'Richie has had his scan and he has a partial tear which is a disappointment. We're waiting for more details but his knee is fairly stable. If surgery is involved you're looking potentially at September or October, but if we feel it is treatable then he could be back for pre season, so let's hope it's the latter.'

In other injury news, Pearson also confirmed that Jeff Schlupp will undergo surgery after picking up a knee injury, but there was better news for Andy King.

'Jeff will have surgery next week so it's been a bit of an unfortunate season for him in the sense that he has had injuries to both of his knees. We'll make sure he recovers and has it right for pre season. There's better news on Kingy who has more bone bruising than anything else. Fortunately for him it's not the reoccurence we thought it could have been.'
