Pearson Delighted With Saints Performance

Nigel Pearson was delighted with our overall performance and commanding victory against Southampton last night.

Speaking to lcfc.com after the 2-0 win Pearson passed all the praise onto the players for their effort and determination.

'I am very pleased for the players. They have put a lot in to the game tonight and they have got what they deserved. The work ethic tonight really was exceptional.'

Pearson also had praise for the two debutants, Danny Drinkwater and on loan Nathan Delfouneso.

Drinkwater made his bow earlier than expected following the injury to Paul Gallagher.

'Danny did very well when he came on. It was a shame of Paul and we're not yet sure of the extent of the injury, but Danny did a great job. Nathan came on late and he did well for us too. They are promising young players.'
