Paul Gallagher was humble following his double strike at the weekend, and chose instead to praise his colleagues for the perfect start to Pearson's return to the club.
Speaking to lcfc.com following the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace Richie Wellens has already revealed that Gallagher threw his right boot to the centre of the dressing room and invited Kasper Schmeichel to take a fire extinguisher to it and the banter that obviously followed, but the 27 year old left the playful banter behind him when speaking himself -maybe apart from the following.
'It was one of them that could have gone in the top of the stand or in the top corner, fortunately for us it was the top corner! I didn't even feel the second one hit my foot, I was going to pass to Lee Peltier but I was too tired so I just hit it. I don't think I have scored a better one and I don't think I ever will.'
Gallagher though, rightly, moved onto the overall team performance and obviously the boost in confidence such a win would do for the club.
'It's not just about me scoring, Kasper made a great save at 1-0 which was massively important, then you've got Matt and Sean throwing their bodies on the line. I just thought we were fantastic today.'
Now for some consistency, and the decision to get rid of Sven so quickly could well be justified.
But I'm still not changing my name :-)
