Sven Didn't Give Me A Fair Shot - Howard

Sven Didn't Give Me A Fair Shot - Howard

Steve Howard has been the first player to be openly critical of Sven-Goran Eriksson since his departure.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury the 35 year old striker said the club lacked guidance, that we tried to play too much football at points, and obviously that Sven didn't give him a fair crack of the whip when it came to first team action.

Howard also said he almost went out on loan to get some game time.

'I don't think he game me a fair crack of the whip, he wanted his own players which is fair enough, but I think I was overlooked. Other players may have different views but I felt we lacked a bit of guidance. In certain games you need to play Championship football and I don't think we ever did that. Sometimes you have to fight your way out of games, but we didn't do that.'

Howard says however that's exactly what we did do in the second half against West Ham and against Burnley.

Howard is now obviously looking forward, and he believes he and David Nugent can compliment each other perfectly.

'My partnership with David is going well, I said to him on Tuesday night 'let me deal with the centre halves and you do what you do'. He got his goal, but if I am in a better position he had better return the favour!'
