Sven - Disappointed But Proud

Sven-Goran Eriksson has said he is obviously disappointed to see us go out the Carling Cup on penalties last night, but the players should feel proud of their performance.

Speaking to lcfc.com after the dramatic 7-6 penalty loss to Cardiff last night, the manager said.

'Everyone is disappointed with the result and the manner of our defeat, but I have told the players that they should be very proud of their performance tonight. I felt that if anyone was going to win the game it was us. We were the better side and we were maybe unlucky to lose.'

Eriksson adds that the loss won't affect plans for the next league game, the players will brush the disappointment aside and be looking for 3 points at the weekend.

'Tonight will have no psychological effect on us. I am certain of that. People like Michael Johnson, Michael Ball and Stevie Howard played very well and they will have benefitted a great deal from tonight.'
