'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shilton Warns About Expecting Instant Success

Peter Shilton has warned Foxes fans to not expect instant success even though Leicester are splashing the cash with promotion in mind.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury Shilton said he was pleased to see Sven showing the ambition that the club should be, but that not even money can guarantee instant success and we might have to be a little more patient.

'This is going to be a big year because Sven is going to be judged on the signings he makes, he's being backed which is great for the club, so I think everybody would be expecting quite a bit of improvement on last season. Certainly, they've got to be aiming for the play offs at the very least, if not automatic promotion.'

The hint of caution comes when Shilton adds that the fans will have to show the patience whilst the new signings click with their team mates, and we'll have to ride the hiccups that will come with a long season full of expectation.

'Fans need to appreciate it's a long season, if the club doesn't get off to a flying start, they must realise that when you bring in new players, it doesn't always gel quickly. Normally class comes to the top, and if players are good enough they will gel, and get better as the season progresses.'
