No Reserve League Again For Leicester

No Reserve League Again For Leicester

Chief Executive Lee Hoos has said that it's unlikely the Foxes will enter their second string into a league format again this season, preferring instead to loan out youngsters and arrange games on an ad hoc basis.

Speaking to thebluearmy.co.uk Hoos said that he didn't believe youngsters were challenged enough in the organised reserves leagues as the competitive nature of a reserves setup doesn't introduce them properly to the demands of first team football.

'We've had a chat about whether it's worth joining a league or not and we will probably continue to go along with the friendlies, and even look outside the UK with other teams.'

Seeing the negatives of an organised reserve league isn't soley a Leicester belief, and whilst Hoos does believe it can play a part in a players further development, clearly he believes there are different and better ways of achieving a more rounded development.

'There is a place for reserve football, but there is only so far you can go in a reserve league. A player needs to be playing competitive football to get something out of it. There are people calling for your head if you don't performa nd that is the experience you really need.'
