Former Leicester favourite Steve Walsh doesn't believe the rumoured signing of Emile Heskey will be enough to ensure promotion, stating we still need a 20 goals a season striker aswell.
Speaking to thebluearmy.co.uk Walsh admitted that the signing of Heskey would be great for the club, and he knows that Heskey is considering a return following a little chat they had last Xmas, but that with Heskey's conversion rate, we would also need somebody who could score in their sleep if we wanted to ensure promotion next season.
'I texted Emile just after Christmas and asked if he would come back, and he said 'no, not yet'. Things may have changed now.'
Things should've changed by now, with debate continuing about the possible future of Gerard Houllier, plus Villa looking at a more suitable partner for Darren Bent, Emile could well be resigned to playing back up only if not completely out of favour, and as we've seen on this site from Villa fans, very few would be sad to see him leave.
At Leicester he'd be a far more regular starter, and would no doubt receive far more of the love he thrives on.
But Walsh is right, for all the benefits Heskey would bring as the big man upfront, we'd definitely need a natural finisher to work off him to get the goals.
'We have to find someone who is going to get us 20 a season. Yakubu is an instinct player, so that consistency that we need might not be there.'
