Eriksson admits Kamara interest

Leicester chief Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted his interest in signing Fulham striker Diomansy Kamara on loan.

Eriksson revealed last week that the Foxes were in the hunt for a big-name player, and has revealed that out-of-favour Fulham forward Kamara is on his hit list.

"He is one of several we have asked about,' he told the Leicester Mercury. "I can't deny he is one of them, but he is not the only one.

"We have had very little contact with Fulham, and myself almost nothing. It is ongoing work.

"I guess Lee Hoos, the chief executive, has been talking to at least three clubs during the last two days. There are contacts all the time.

"If it is someone like him or someone with the same abilities, who we feel can help the team to ride higher in the table, we will do it, whether it is a striker, defender or midfielder.

"You can't go out and spend millions on a player for the rest of the season but, if something is possible that we think will make the team better, we will do that."

Kamara has found himself frozen out of Mark Hughes' Fulham setup, and has not made a Premier League appearance since the 1-1 draw with Wigan in January.

And Hughes has admitted he would be willing to let the 30-year-old out on loan if a deal can be struck.

"There is interest but it hasn't come to a conclusion. He has to have a discussion with his advisers," the Fulham boss told the Fulham Chronicle.

"It's an opportunity for him because he is not in my first 18 at the moment."
