'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jones praying for Bluebirds backlash

Cardiff boss Dave Jones has insisted the burden is on his Bluebirds side this evening when Leicester make the vital trip to the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Foxes travel to the Welsh capital in search of their eighth league victory in nine, and know that beating fellow promotion hopefuls Cardiff would be a huge statement of authority.

But Bluebirds chief Jones insists that his side are ready to bounce back from their weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest and get one over on Sven-Goran Eriksson's Foxes.

"I still think there will be changes in the top two," he declared. "Everybody`s got the bit between their teeth.

"The Forest game was our first defeat since the new year in the league If you look at Swansea they lost the one game, to us.

"So everybody seems to be losing the odd game then getting back on it. That is what we have got to do.

"We are the home side so the onus is on us."

Jones looked on as Cardiff were beaten 2-1 at the City Ground on Saturday thanks to Robert Earnshaw's winner, as Forest took home the three vital points for their promotion charge.

The defeat left the Bluebirds in fourth place, just four points ahead of the Foxes in the Championship table.

And Jones knows that the Foxes' recent run of form will set his side up for a testing evening.

"Leicester have always had good players and they have been splashing the cash to try and get out of this division.

"Good luck to them, we are all trying to get out of this division.

"They have recovered well after last year just like we have."

Leicester will hand a late fitness test to Darius Vassell, who has travelled with the squad despite sitting out Monday's training session.
