Yakubu already feeling at home

Yakubu admits he is already feeling at home at the Walkers Stadium after notching a debut goal at Deepdale on Saturday.

The Everton loanee's second-half strike looked to have handed the Foxes all three points against rock bottom Preston, but former favourite Iain Hume struck late to rescue a point for Phil Brown's side.

Nevertheless the Nigerian international admitted it was enjoyable debut, paying tribute to the vocal travelling faithful.

"I really enjoyed the reaction from the fans," he said. "As a striker, when you score goals, you are a lot more confident and the reaction of the fans will only help my confidence.

"I love the chants from our fans. They have made me feel at home already. I am ready to play and to make them happy."

Despite a useful debut from the powerful striker, Yakubu conceded that it was definitely two points dropped in Lancashire.

"We are all a little disappointed not to take all three points.

"We had five or six good chances and we were unlucky at the end just to get one point but we have to accept it and we didn't lose."

The 28-year-old is ineligible to feature for City in Tuesday night's FA Cup replay clash with Manchester City, but says he is relishing the visit of Millwall on Saturday.

"That's one of those things but I want to do well in the next league game (against Millwall)," the striker said.

"I have trained for two or three days, the players are getting to know me and I have really enjoyed my time so far."
