Foxes make Yakubu enquiry

Leicester have made an enquiry over the availability of Everton striker Yakubu.

Sven-Goran Eriksson is keen on adding the out-of-favour Nigeria international to bolster his forward line, and has contacted Everton over a possible transfer.

Yakubu's first-team football at Goodison Park has been limited this season, and the striker could be keen on a move away in his search for regular football.

Quite whether he would be willing to drop down to the Championship is another question.

But Eriksson has confirmed his potential interest in the striker, who has hit 25 goals in 80 appearances for Everton since his move from Middlesbrough in 2007.

Still only 28-years-old, Yakubu would represent something a coup for Leicester under their ambitious owners, and could be the marquee January signing they had hoped for.

Everton supporters have been disappointed with the striker's fitness this campaign, and perhaps would not begrudge the striker of an early exit from Goodison Park.
