Pearson ready to return for striker

Hull City have already lodged a bid for out-of-favour Leicester striker Matty Fryatt, according to reports.

Fryatt has been frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at the Walkers Stadium this season, and Hull boss Nigel Pearson has targeted the forward to bolster his Tigers side.

Pearson has been told he has funds to spend in the January transfer window, and has prioritised a forward after Hull's disappointing Championship campaign so far.

The 24-year-old was a top performer under Pearson during the latter's managerial days with City, hitting 39 goals in 75 matches under the current Tigers chief.

With an abundance of attacking options currently at his disposal, Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is willing to offload the striker to find first team football elsewhere.

City have rejected sizeable bids for Fryatt in recent seasons, but reports suggest that the club's Thai owners would be willing to accept significantly less with new signings ominous.

Hull are not likely to be the only side in the hunt for the striker's services, with both Reading and Nottingham Forest alleged admirers.

But the opportunity to link back up with Pearson at the KC Stadium may prove to be the deciding factor when Fryatt makes his final decision.
