DJ deal in doubt

DJ deal in doubt

DJ Campbell's proposed move to Blackpool has stalled.

It is believed that the two clubs are some way off in their valuations of the player, with Leicester reportedly asking for £1.5 million for the striker.

And it is unsurprising that Blackpool have baulked at the excessive price tag, despite Campbell's heroics for the Seasiders last season in the Championship.

For a player Leicester would have been happy to offload for a nominal fee not so long ago the new valuation all of a sudden seems quite outrageous to the Premier League side. Fair enough.

But can you blame us, really? We have no money ourselves, and it is little wonder we have attempted to inflate the price tag after Blackpool's promotion to the top flight.

And whilst Campbell has seemingly meant trouble since day one at the club (for various reasons not entirely his own fault), it is again understandable that we might try and recoup some of the £1.6 million we paid Birmingham City.

The likelihood is that there will be other clubs interested in taking the striker on in the Championship. Eventually.

I'm not sure we ever expected to get that kind of fee for him, but hey, it's worth starting high right?

We need him off our books and he's very much a wanted man by Ian Holloway, so the chances of a deal being done at some stage still remain high.

So let's just call this a snag...

Blackpool have earned a fortune by getting promotion. £1.5m is nothing for a player who was key to their promotion. We paid £1m for Claridge BEFORE he was won us promotion 15 years ago so what is £1.5m for a player proven to perform for them. They're just being cheap, and although we want rid of him I'm glad that we're sticking to our guns and demanding some money for him. If they won't pay then they'll lose out. It's their choice!!!!

Just get rid of him. We should do 1M and another 1M if Blackpool stay up
