Leicester manager Nigel Pearson could be turning his attentions to former Premiership winger Nolberto Solano.

The 35-year-old had recently been on trial at Colchester United, but it now appears as though Leicester have shown some interest in the former Aston Villa and Newcastle midfielder.

Solano was brought to England in 1998 by Newcastle United, where he went on to make 182 appearances in his time at St. James' Park.

A hugely popular figure in his time in the North-East, Solano bid farewell to join Aston Villa in 2004, making his debut in the 5-0 demolition of City at the Walkers Stadium. The Peruvian was named as Villa's player of the year, also top-scoring.

A return to Newcastle followed, before West Ham made their move in August 2007, snapping the winger up on a one-year deal. Solano made 23 appearances for the Hammers before moving onto pastures new with Larissa in Greece.

Solano returned home to Peru with Universitario de Deportes, helping them to win the Peruvian Premira Division title that year.

Was training with Watford for a few months before he headed for Greece and apparently the Hornets wanted to sign him but his wages completely blew the budget. Not sure he has the legs any more but his clever footballing brai will be an asset.
