Davids not joining Foxes
Leicester's proposed move for Edgar Davids is now off, after neither party could come to a formal agreement.
Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric insisted yesterday that he would not be held at ransom for the former-Dutch international, and admitted he had already extended talks for a decision from Davids and his representatives.
Today, however, Mandaric has publicly ended the club's interest in the player, telling the club's official site: 'Unfortunately we were not able to come to an agreement with Edgar and his representatives. We have decided not to take this matter further and wish Edgar luck in his future career.'
Mandaric has clearly been frustrated by the whole episode, with Davids' unwillingness to commit to a decision the key factor. The club chairman was particularly critical of Davids' agent yesterday, telling BBC Radio Leicester: 'Unfortunately some players are in the hands of their agents and when it comes to money and deals they do not really have a lot to do with it.'
Vital verdict: In truth, whilst we would all have secretly liked to have seen him in a Leicester shirt, Davids would have been something of a novelty luxury rather than a necessity, and a lack of commitment to the cause may just be the best thing for City.
