'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bertrand: 'We're a better club than Leicester'

Reading left back Ryan Bertrand has fueled the fire ahead of Monday evening's match by declaring that Reading are a bigger and better football club than Leicester.

Bertrand, on loan from Chelsea told the Wokingham Times: 'Leicester is a big club if you go back through the history books. But at this moment in time the league positions are irrelevant. Reading is a better football club than Leicester.

"They say the table never lies, and I guess it doesn`t, but that just shows they`re on a better run than us at the moment. The fact is we`re a better football club than Leicester and we should go out there as favourites."

Bertrand's comments come at a peculiar time for Reading, who currently sit in 21st place in the Championship after Tuesday night's crushing 4-1 defeat to QPR. Indeed, his comments have frustrated our counterparts at Vital Reading, alongside other contingents of the club's support.

The player's embarassing remarks may just provide Nigel Pearson's side with all the motivation they require for Monday's encounter in front of the Sky television cameras, a game which could see City remain in touching distance of the division's elite.
