DJ Campbell scored twice as Leicester City's reserves recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory over their Sheffield United counterparts at the Walkers Stadium last night.
There was also positive action from trialist striker Yann Kermorgant, who hit the opener and created another. The Frenchman has been on trial with the Foxes twice after suffering injury in the first period, and is seeking to catch the eye of manager Nigel Pearson for a full-time contract.
Youth academy graduate Tom Parkes grabbed the second goal of the game midway through the first half to give the Foxes' second string a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.
Much speculation has surrounded the future DJ Campbell since his declaration to move away from the club, but collossal wages have meant efforts to move away have been thwarted thus far. Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has admitted talks with the player, rumoured to earn in the region of £20k per week on his current deal.
City Reserves: Cisak; O'Neill, Rowe-Turner, Parkes, Faye, Chambers, Burns, Ajdarevic, Gradel, Campbell, Kermorgant. Subs: Sappleton, Ambrusics, Porter (46 for Campbell), Milnes (17 for Burns), C King (66 for Kermorgant).
