Youngsters Fight Back

Kings Lynn 1-3 Leicester XI

A Leicester City XI bounced back from a half-time deficit to record a 3-1 victory over Kings Lynn at the Walks Ground on Saturday.

Two goals from Ricky Sappleton and one from Adi Yussef gave a Foxes side containing largely youth the win on the day.

Leicester included first-team rebel DJ Campbell in the starting lineup for the first time this pre-season, coming up against a Kings Lynn team who included former-Foxes Joe Magunda and Andy Johnson amongst their ranks.

It was the home side who took the lead after 21 minutes, and Leicester's youngsters failed to find a reply as they found themselves a goal down at half-time.

However, reserve team manager Gerry Taggart's double substitution at half-time, bringing on Sappleton and Yussef for Campbell and Kee at the break, proved to be the catalyst for an impressive turnaround.

It took until the 76th minute for Leicester to record their first goal through Yussef, before Sappleton added two more to the total before full-time to give the Foxes the 3-1 victory.

Leicester will play away at Mansfield Town in a full first-team friendly tomorrow evening.

City X1: Cisak; Milnes, Boulger, Parkes, Rowe-Turner, Douglas, Verma, Wesolowski, Hayes, Campbell, Kee. Subs: C King (67 for Hayes), Hicks (45 for Verma), Yussef (45 for Campbell), John, Sappleton (67 for Kee), Porter (45 for Douglas), Ambrusics.
