Leicester confirm Kelly deal

Radio Leicester this evening announced that Rob Kelly had signed a new 12-month rolling contract as Leicester City manager.

They said the decision will be announced at a Walkers Stadium press conference at around 9.30 tomorrow morning, essentially confirming the story broken by the Mirror this morning.

City fans are greatly relieved to secure his signature because there have been uncomfortable but unsubstantiated rumours that Wolves were prowling.

Kelly, the man who emphasises 'simplicity' in his approach to the game and who rarely makes an unenforced team change, has earned his chance to be City's long-term manager by rescuing the club from the prospect of relegation and his appointment will meet with almost blanket approval from the supporters.

Filbertway on Foxestalk commented: Glad it's finally been confirmed, what if he does really well though? I'm sure he this will end up that he does well for us then a big team nick him off us. I'm going to guess Villa.

Weebl remarked: Absolutely fantastic news.

ow, perhaps breaking the habit of the last few months, Rob will actually look ahead more than just a game or two and give a little thought about the squad for next season.

Bertfox simply said: Whoop!! Great news!!

The decision will also delight the players who openly campaigned for Kelly's appointment as caretaker in succession to Craig Levein and have since done everything possible to ensure he gets the job long term.

Their faltering form disappeared to be collectively replaced by a new resolve which earned them seven wins, three draws and only two defeats in 12 League matches.

Even the best teams in the division failed to beat us and instead talked of the team with a new respect.
