Lineker Backs Foxes
Leicester City legend Gary Lineker has pledged his support to Leicester's bid to host a World Cup match in 2018.
Leicester's Walkers Stadium is among a number of stadia short-listed to stage a match in 2018, and the Foxes hero has backed his home town to become one of the host cities.
'Leicester has a great passion for all its sports, rugby, cricket and of course football which has always been the number one so it has a lot going for it.
It is a multi-cultural city nowadays, having many ethnic groups, which will obviously appeal to FIFA all Leicester can do is show that they have a very strong bid'.
Lineker himself played in two World Cups for England, picking up the 1986 Golden Boot in Mexico along the way.
Meanwhile, another Leicester legend, Muzzy Izzet, has also offered his support for the city's campaign by joining a number of council officials looking to cement the city's place at the 2018 World Cup.
"When I was at the World Cup in Japan and South Korea, it was like a carnival. Everywhere you went, it was there. The atmosphere was incredible. It would be very positive for the city to have that, there would be so many people visiting."
